It’s “Sixpack Monday” which means it’s the night of the week where I go out to a certain area in New York, take six photos and then match them up with songs that I think reflect the photograph for whatever reason (click on the caption to see the video and listen to the song). I thought tonight I’d wander around and on Houston Street in the East Village and snap some photos. Lights, camera...subway!
They don't love you like I love you.
Wait! they don't love you like I love you.
Maps, wait!
When the moon hits your eye,
Like a big pizza pie,
That's amore.

Sorrow blowin' through the vents,
I'm over Houston,
You're over the night we met.

Vote For Chester Bean!
This in from the world’s coolest DJ, Gidget:
“Chester Bean is up for the Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue’s yearly calendar. Those who have met our baby doggy know we rescued him from there last year! Please go through and vote for Chester Bean and his friend Maiden. He is number 33: Mr. Bean, black and white! Maiden is number 32. She is such a cutie pie! Me and Chester will owe you a thousand kisses for this!”

Russ and Daughters, what a wonderful NY institution and that nova salmon on a toasted bagel with cream cheese sure sounds good about now. I keep telling you Marty you got the worlds best right outside your door.
I totally agree with the above comment - "Marty you got the worlds best right outside your door."
And you're very lucky!
:)
@Al: Russ and Daughters is a real institution on Houston and I love their neon sign.
@Meleah: I do feel lucky to be able to live where I do, as much as I complain about New York, I couldn't live anywhere else.
I absolutely loved that Rascals tune when I was in Jr. High, and now thanks to the TV coverage of the fall of the Berlin Wall, it will forever be associated in my mind with the footage of all those freed and ecstatic east Berliners dancing around on top of it and whacking out chucks of it with sledge hammers to have as keepsakes...
Not really blog related. Marty likes the Breeders. Marty doesn't listen to the Pixies. The Breeders is Kim Deal from the Pixies and her twin sister. I obnoxiously point this out to him. I need a hobby or something.
EDIT: My new hobby" Voting for Mr. Bean. He's in 33rd. Needs more votes.
Scrolling through I first thought it said Russian Daughters. Wondered what kind of places you were taking us to! Gook luck to Mr. Bean, you have my vote!
@Jaws: That's one of my favorite Rascal's songs too. I didn't see it being played with the Berlin Wall coming down though, need to Google that!
@csp: I'm actually not a huge Breeders fan, I picked that song because the word Houston is in the song. And yes, Mr. Bean needs all the votes he can get. Vote at work and at home!
@kari: Ha ha ha! Russian Daughters is probably in Brighton Beach somewhere!
VOTING, voting often! how deserving you are Chester Bean!
Russ & Daughters is a great place. Used to be able to see it from my apartment. Chester Bean has such an eager, wide-eyed expression - a real sweetie!
@Green Monkey: Thanks for voting early and often!
@onemorefoldedsunset: I've always loved Russ & Daughters too. Gidget saved Chester Bean about a year ago, so let's hope he makes the calendar!
My vote for Mr. Bean is in. C'mon guys!!! Vote!!
Vote for Mr. Bean.
Mr. Bean--yes.
@Clacky: Hell yeah, onwards and upwards!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

@rr: It is hard to believe a year's gone by. Glad you enjoyed the tunes and photos! Very cool quote tonight!
@Jaws: Fuck, I forgot all about that movie! I need to put that in my NetFlix queue!
How could you not vote for Chester Bean..What a smile...please vote for Chester Bean he has had a ROUGH day...
@tehennessey: Even Mr. Chester Bean would agree that that shit is RUFF, son!
The only time it sucks to have a duplex apartment is when you fall down the stairs.
@Uncle Waltie: Words of wisdom, my friend! Sip Ahoy!
Oh I love you guys!!!! we got Beaners on feb 22:) he is losing his eyesight.. but is the best dog in the universe.. and i never met a man who could fart as good as him!...
Maps, wait! I love that song. You know, I was thinking about going to see Paul Simon here in Cowtown, but he's charging over $100 bucks a seat for his concert.

GO CHESTER BEAN!
@Gidget: I hope he wins, I'll buy a dozen calendars if he does!
@Biff: A hundred bucks for a seat! He's still crazy after all these years! Great quote!
