Okay, if you remember from last week, the movie, Fear Strikes Out, struck out on us in the bottom of the fifth (beer.) I put it in my Netflix queue and it has dutifully arrived, so we’ll pick up where we left off. As always this film is presented in MartyVision using as few stills as possible to tell the story. Lights, camera...play ball and go nuts! (Click here to see part one.)
Further reading and watching: Karl Malden Obituary in LA Times, Anthony Perkins Obituary in the NY Times, 1958 Anthony Perkins interview with Mike Wallace and What’s My Line.
The top five movies in my Netflix queue. Click on the title to watch the trailer from each movie.
Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Ed Wood
Reflections in a Golden Eye
The Matador
The Party
I love their "Mr. Blue Skies."
Almost my favorite is "Turn to Stone."
And how 'bout "Telephone Line?”
I love that E.L.O.

I have to watch Fear now. I can't believe I have never seen it. I did see a movie on your queue that is an all time favorite,,,,"The Party", so sixties and with Peter Sellers you can't go wrong, just hilarious. Ed Wood was ok in that it showed a lot of old Los Angeles bars, always a good thing. "Matador" is another movie I need to see. Randy Newman is a hell of a talented musician and "Short People" was greatly misunderstood.
Nice ending of FSO! I agree with Al about Randy Newman, a lot of people didn't get the messages in a lot of his songs.
Karl Malden was so much like my dad in fear strikes out it's not even funny. He even fucking looks like him!! Excuse me while I pry myself off the ceiling.....WAAAAAAUUUUUUGH!!!
@Al: "The Party" is one of my all-time favorite movies! "Birdy num-nums." You really should watch "The Matador" a great dark comedy.
@Barfly: Thanks and I agree with both you and Al about Randy Newman.
@Jaws: My Bluto-like advice for you is to start drinking heavily!
@MAD; Everclear and orange juice...THAT'S THE TICKET....yeah, yeah, yeah....I HEAR YA DAD GET OFF MY FUCKIN" BACK....liquor store...they'll have orange juice...DAD SHUT UUUUUUUUP.....WAAAAUUUUUGH!!
I can't seem to come up with a comment for today, so just saying hi :)
@Jaws: Cheers!
@kari: Hi!
@MAD, If you won the megamillions I think this was the most brilliant post ever. If you didn't win the megamillions, um, so in the movie Karl Malden tells a psycho to get a hit, and not to leave home plate without it?
@csp: I haven't checked my tickets yet, but sadly I think somebody in Albany won it. Re: Karl Malden: Ha ha ha!
damn...maybe MAD should consult w/ Jaws before "screening" these "midnight flicks"...would hate to read that some ex-cabbie was committed after tying a rag 'round his head and was found runnin' up and down the streets "shoutin' sumthing about his dad and marty"...did see "Fear" so many years ago...anymore when i see malden i see douglas and them runnin' up and sum streets and when i see perkins it's nothing but showers...together my my mind turns to jello and damn there is cosby...back on a saner note i sumtimes wonder if randy knew all the messages...
"Never let the fear of striking out get in your way."
- Babe Ruth.

@rr: "together my my mind turns to jello and damn there is cosby..." Ha ha ha! I like that passage! Fear Strikes Out Played in Australia first? I wonder why? Wait'll you see the fucking cheeseburger I had tonight, the best I've had so far, no bullshit!
@MAD: I'll be waiting eagerly for SNC...My favourite quote from Ed Wood...
Bela Lugosi: "Fuck Bros Karloff! Boris Karloff doesn't deserve to sniff my shit!
That was the movie where I discovered the horrible truth about Sarah Jessica Parker...she has a horse head.
@Clacky of Bunt's Downunder: Wait'll you see this fucking cheeseburger I had tonight! The best yet! And I love that part of Ed Wood too! And as far as SJP...WILBURRRRR!
Sarah Jessica Parker walks into a bar and orders a drink.
The bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
@csp: http://twe.ly/Wihb
I love Sarah Jessica Parker meanies
@Kari: I like her too, she's quite the filly.
Too bad a filly can't mate with an ass.
Actually, Filly + Ass = Mule.

So the neighs have it. This just in, blind squirrel finds nut.
I was trying really hard to not make another smart ass comment. You make it very difficult :)
