New Year's Eve—10pm

Twilight Zone Episode: “The Midnight Sun”
Starring: Lois Nettleton and Betty Garde
From season three, episode ten.

As the earth hurls out of orbit, straight into the sun, Norma and her neighbor, Mrs. Bronson try to help each other through the ordeal.

The streets are deserted as everyone tries to avoid the inevitable heat-stricken doom by heading north.
Finally the two break down as the heat and nerves continue to rise.

Just as the record temperatures continue to jump...

Norma wakes up out of a feverish dream. She remarks to Mrs. Bronson how nice it is to have darkness and cool air. She's relieved it was all just a nightmare.

In her fevered state, she doesn’t realize that the earth is still out of orbit, it’s just headed in the opposite direction, in the Twilight Zone.

This is street peddler, Pedott, a man who has the unique gift of selling people exactly what they need to improve their life. Moments after he sells people items, they're lives change for the better.

Two-bit punk and hood, Fred Renard realizes the peddler’s talent and begins harassing him to give him what he needs to change his rotten life.

He demands to know what he needs and thinks he finds it by the look on Perdott’s face when he picks it out of his sales case.

Sadly he finds out sometime Pedott the peddler sells people what he needs, instead of the other way around, in the Twilight Zone.

New Year's Eve—7PM

And the night is underway! I just watched the first Twilight Zone Episode of the evening and here's a recap for you.

Twilight Zone Episode: “Time Enough At Last”
Starring: Burgess Meredith
From season one, episode eight.

Meet Henry Bemis. A man who loves to read, surrounded by those who scoff at the notion of the printed word. The bank customers ignore him, his boss admonishes him and calls him, “a reader,” and his hateful wife hides his reading material and destroys his books.

After a lunch break taken in the bank’s vault, Mr. Bemis emerges to find the inhabitants of earth are gone due to a nuclear explosion. He’s the lone survivor. Finally he has all the time in the world to enjoy the books he loves.

Sadly, with broken glasses, Henry Bemis is now, once again, void of reading material, forever...In the Twilight Zone!

New Year's Eve—6PM

Okay, here we go, the first annual MAD New Year's Eve party! I know a lot of people are out and about, so if you're reading this I appreciate it. Every year I do the same thing on New Year's Eve: I get a shitload of beer and some snacks, lock the door and watch The Twilight Zone Marathon on the Sci-Fi channel. This year however, one thing is going to change. Netflix now has all the Twilight Zone Episodes available for streaming, so I can watch my favorites all night long! I am the Master of my Twilight Zone domain! Let's take a little inventory of the party supplies now.

Here's my snack items: A loaf of miniature sourdough bread, a package of onion crisps, sharp cheddar cheese slices, some salami and some port wine cheddar cheese spread. I'll be able to make several different snack trays out of these ingredients. But what to wash it all down with?

Well, I think this should do the trick! I'll be back at 7 PM with another hourly update as we countdown to 2012!

Good Afternoon—December 31, 2011

It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m going to celebrate it like I always do. “How is that?” You may wonder. Well, check back around 6 PM, the festivities start live, right here at MAD! I’m going to do a countdown post an hour till midnight, so check back for the first one at six bells.
