Okay, I’m still hungover from yesterday at Mars Bar kind of tired tonight and don’t really feel like doing anything for tonight’s post. I think those of you that have been following MAD for the last few months know where this is going, so it’s off we go.
And here we are at Penn Station, a familiar stopping point here on MAD.
Everyone's standing still on the escalator which is nice.
I have to check the Duane Reade to see if things have improved in their greeting card section.
Okay, this shit is getting too personal in here! I'm going to talk to a manager the next time!
Okay, not far to go now...
And here we are...ahhh, I feel better already!
My friend serves up the dog...
And I retreat to my table in my Fortress of Solitude.
I let Gumby have a tableside seat tonight and that pleased him.
Dog gone, so now it's time to enjoy the beer...
And do a little drawing to relax.
A collective shot of tonight's artwork.
An obligatory Papaya Dog mirror shot and I'm done. Goodnight everybody and see you tomorrow, after dark.

The 1st Papaya visit ...
I always like the Papaya visits! Your Joan Jett drawing is great! And great Creedence tune, this post was worth waiting for. And thanks to Gene for linking up to the original Papaya voyage last year! LOL!
I believe the technical term for that weird guy’s hair “style” is: The Skullette
The Duane Reade card is a classic!
“Now my baby's gone I don't know what to do
She took my love and walked right out the door
And if I ever find that girl I know one thing for sure
I'm gonna give her something like she never had before”
@GENE: Memories...
@Barfly: Glad you liked the Joan Jett drawing, I was happy with it too!
@Harry: I love the name, "The Skulette!" Great lyrics too, thanks!
I forgot to post this (doh!)
The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council has a website.
www.hot-dog.org/
Apparently they conduct scientific research to benefit hot dog and sausage manufacturers. The site has brochures, facts and trivia, news, and recipes.
In other news: there’s a National Hot Dog & Sausage Council
Very funny,,,,the card. Sorry I don't like Papaya nights at MAD,,,,but hey I have always gone against the grain,,,just to keep things lively. I do love Joan Jett and she is coming down here soon, she has to be one of the hardest working women in rock,,,this girl is always touring,,,way to go! CCR video is great, a great band with a great leader,,,I know that CC Revisited tours a lot, with a new singer,,,, without John Fogerty and his unique voice, I wouldn't waste my time. You know the Beach Boys have turned to crap also,,,Mike Love stands there and smiles, John Stamos does the lead singing,,,bullshit,,,just trying to take that last dollar before they collapse. A band that survived a lead singer and got bigger is ACDC,,,Bon Scott died and Brian Johnston came in and propelled them thru the roof. There,,,,who needs Papaya when we have music, lol
Jesus Marty...they're KILLING you at work and it shows in that mirror shot....you're really gonna need a vitamine B12 shot with the schedule you keep. the Joan Jett drawing really does belong in a frame, it's passed over into the fine art catagory.
Oh, by the way, if that squirrel on the greeting card keeps showing up, two words...WRIST ROCKET!!!
@Harry: Thanks for the linkage! I need to see if I can get on the council, I think I've paid my dues!
@Al: I always chuckle when I go there thinking about you! I hear you on Mike Love, one of the worst fuckers in rock 'n' roll. He's the main reason that Brian Wilson aborted "Smile" and he drove Van Dyke Parks away. I always felt that Dennis Wilson was the heart and soul of the Beach Boys, much in the way that Keith Moon was to the Who.
@Jaws: I'll include it with the John Lennon drawing I've been so bad about mailing, I have the day off and will pack them up, can you email me your address again? Mucho apologies for taking so long with this. P.S. I took the day off to get a bunch of shit done and so far I've done nothing! Ha ha ha!
I like your drawings Marty. The Ramones rock!!I will be passing through this lovely domain on Friday off to LI. Will think of you when I pass the Papaya place. The best meal is the one that is always the same.
i love that joan jett drawing! and the drive in surprise link was perfect! as for your post today, better late than never! lol!!
GENE...great link down memory lane...365 also felt: "This is like my Fortress of Solitude" and Ramy holds almost the same pose more than a year later...
gee i'm sorry Al does not like these visit to the "Fortress"...i enjoy these visits...the cards, the drawings, and always great lookin' dog and beer...

@Melanie: Thanks! Have fun house-sitting in Long Island! Take a photo of the Papaya Dog as you pass by if you can.
@rita r: I may be late, but I'm never on time!
@rr: Beautiful quote today, never heard that one! Thanks!
Now thats a good hangover cure....papaya dog and a beer. Gumby looks a bit blue. Maybe you could see if he's getting enough oxygen.
Great scribblings...except for "the one who's name we do not speak" : I
@Al: John Stamos is in the beach Boys?? WTF...excuse me while I go cut myself.
Yes, there aren't many bands who've had success after the singer died....AC/DC is the only band that comes to mind.
@Clacky: Thanks for not mentioning the name, but I love the symbol you thought of, : | Ha! I just emailed you the Mars Bar art.
Always love those drawings, Marty! Just about restored after Mars, today I went to a great, well-stocked barbecue after work & must now collapse. Aagh!
@onemorefoldedsunset: Thanks! Happy collapsing to you!
I love Papaya Night! Sorry, Al - but the cards and the drawings are too good to go very long without. Also, does that dude ever get a night off, or does Papaya only employ one person?
I love your artwork! And you look tired. Get some sleep!!
I also love your drawings, so always a good time. Love the hot dog commercial. Man I miss the drive-in theaters. Good memories!
@Britta: Papaya does employ more people, but the rest are camera shy!
@Biff: I'm working on the sleep thing.
@kari: I miss the drive in's too. I wonder if there are any of them left?
We actually do have one drive-in left but its up in Salt Lake and I rarely go up there. They have swap-meets there on the weekends to help bring in more money. Its kinda trashy.
@kari: I always liked the trashy aspect of drive-ins. They're showing movies this summer in Tompkins Square Park, so I'll have to go to one of those for a MAD night.
I love your drawings Marty! You are so very talented. Thank you for sharing those with us. Anytime I try to draw people they just end up looking like stick people.
The ice cold beer looks mighty fine.
That Duane Reade card is the best one yet, the Joan Jett drawing is ubercool and long live the Fortress posts. That is all.
@Tiki Bar Susie: Thanks! The beer is always good there!
@Marty: Thanks, Marty!
