October 18th, 2011

It’s “Sixpack Monday” which means it’s the night of the week where I go out to a certain area in New York, take six photos and then match them up with songs that I think reflect the photograph for whatever reason. I’m still working a combination dayshift and nightshift and it was a rough day today, so I’m pretty fried. Even though it’s Monday, it’s Fried Day for me. Oof, I’m so tired I’m reduced to writing bad jokes like that. Anyway, just like last week, instead of going to a certain part of the city, I’m just going to take shots on my way home and see what I get. And you’re welcome to come along.

The hand of fate is on me now,
It picks me up and knocks me down,
I'm on the run, I'm prison bound.

Yes, I'm running down the railway track,
Could you help me? Police on my back,
They will catch me if I dare drop back,
Wont you give me all the speed I lack.

Now I'm a happy fella,
I'm married to the fortune teller,
We're as happy as we can be,
And what's more I get my fortune told for free.

Whenever I'm dressed cool,
My parents put up a fight.
(Uh huh, uh huh)

(This one goes out to Lux Living!)

But once you think you're in you're out,
'cause you don't mean a single thing without,
the handbags and the gladrags,
that your poor Grandad had to sweat so you could buy ya.

Get up, (get on up)
Get up, (get on up)
Huh!

Wake up and smell the coffee,
Or just say no to individuality,
When we pretend that we're dead.

@CBBM; Uh oh, this looks like a job for Dr. Gregory House...could be cancer, might even be Grave's disease.....

"Rated # 1 psychic by the New York Times",,,hilarious claim,,,,but the video "Fortune Teller" was great. L7 on Letterman,,,when Letterman was doing what Conan does now.

Ha ha. I thought CBBM had a monocle at first, but he's meeellllting.

3 things regarding the Nightcap: 1. L7? Fuck YES! Man, that was a great band. 2. Dave holds up cd longbox; actual lol ensues here at hq. The longbox looks as up-to-date today as a button hook! 3. Anybody catch Dave's subtle cocaine joke joke at the very end? hint: first syllable of "tutor" = "toot".

@Jaws: He doesn't need a doctor, CBBM and his mutant species are indestructable. Run and hide!

@Al: I don't get to see the David Letterman Show much these days due to my schedule, but he always had great taste in bands and musicians. Warren Zevon in particular comes to mind.

@csp: Now that you mention it, this mutant form of CBBM does have a somewhat Mr. Peanut quality to him.

@Ned Sparks: L7 rules! And you're right about the longbox, I can't remember when they stopped making them. I can't see the video here at work, but will check it out for that cocaine joke, I didn't know it was there. Sob...sniff...sniff.

@Biff: I don't know, but I heard that the NY Times is going to publish it tomorrow. For five bucks, I think you can find out today.

@GENE: Me too, always a good source of entertainment and reading! UD is UFB!

Nice call on the L7!!!! Hahaha love the photo Gidget sent in!! If I buy you that green wig, will you wear it?

October 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLindsay

@Lindsay: I'm wearing it right now!

MAD went w/ green woulda held out for flammin' red or maybe blue (i mean like if there is sumthing flammin' blue)...another great post and interestin' audio to boot...

Dave was great in Van Halen. No question about it. He was one of the best at being Mr. Rock Star. But it's sickening to see a guy still trying to be that with a wig on 20 years later.

@rr: Green is my thing, it ain't easy being green! Great thought provoking quote!

@GENE: You got provoked! UFB! But I do agree that the only true VH lineup was with DLR.

@rr: "in a state of regression i'm younger than that now..." Ha ha ha!

Call me a rock-n-roll philistine, but no matter who the frontman, this is pretty much my impression of Van Halen.

October 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commentercsp

@csp ....... that video would be perfect if Michael Anthony clobbered Sammy over the head with his bass !

October 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGENE

@csp: Nice clip, never seen the Van Halen bass solo, impressive!

@GENE: Ha ha ha! UFB!
