Last Friday I was going to go to Occupy Wall Street, but it was raining so hard, I postponed it and took photos on my way home and then instead of captions, I put up song lyrics and a link to a video of the song. I really liked the results of what happened in that post. I’ve kind of run out of ideas for “Sixpack Monday,” where I take six pictures of specific things, so I’ve decided to marry the two ideas and every Monday I’ll take six pictures in a part of New York and then add song lyrics for the caption that I think fits the mood of the picture.
Tonight I thought we’d do it in Times Square. I know I rag on about how Times Square is ruined and a squeaky clean tourist trap, but it’s still good for people watching and photo taking. So let’s go and get a sixpack of photos.
Me and my Arrow. Straighter than narrow. Wherever we go, everyone knows, it's me and my Arrow.

Candleight Vigil For Bob Arihood Tonight
There's a candlelight vigil for Bob Arihood, who died last week. Shawn and Lindsay organized this and it takes place in front of Ray's tonight at 8:00 PM. I've heard it will continue at Lucy's later, where I'll probably join up due to the fact that I have to work. Here's the information from Shawn and Lindsay via EV Grieve:
We wanted to put together a candlelight vigil for Bob in front of Ray's at 8 pm.
Please tell people to bring a candle and or flowers, photos of Bob or photos Bob took. We all think instead Bob would want people to just buy something from Ray's in his memory!
We are presenting Ray with a framed portrait of Bob to hang up so he's always watching over Ray.
UPDATE:
Bob's friend Jefferson Siegel just sent me this email:
There will be a gathering of Bob's friends tonight at 7 p.m. at Lucy's at 135 Ave. A near 9th St. Please spread the word. A memorial is being planned, possibly for this weekend. Also, there was an obit on page 32 of today's Daily News. It's not online, but an image of it is attached:

This concept is great,,,,the pictures with video's somewhat connected,,,I like it. Must mention Petula Clark because of her huge career in music. This woman has had so many catchy hit songs and was doing it during the time the Beatles were invading America. She is a legend. Still performs on occasion. Very nice to do a vigil for Bob at Ray's,,,very thoughtful,,,,,nice people helping each other, and to do it in front of Ray's is great.
Hell, I remember when Times Square was the sex capital of the world in the 1960s and 70s, a sleazy part of town. You had to be an idiot to be found there or at least very hard up and I proudly say, "I was there almost every weekend!" A week out of Times Square was like a life wasted and how could I do that? No sirree, I plunged right in, the sex, the drugs, the hedonism that went round and round and round... Good thing I left on the edge of AIDS hitting and destroying the scene. At least I have some very good memories of Times Square. That I do...
It's probably all for the best that you stay away from the occupy Wall Street scene Marty, but if you do decide to go there and get caught up in a sweep or something, a photo blog of the jail food might be cool!
Turkey and pistols carved out of wood.
@Al: I didn't know Petula Clarke was still performing, good for her! And it's very cool that Shawn and Lindsay set up the vigil, I just hope I can make it, I'm working kooky hours the next three weeks as someone's on vacation.
@Mykola Mick Dementiuk: You do have good memories of Times Square and New York back in the day and they come through in your writing!
@Jaws: It might be a little rough getting the camera in jail, I don't want to think about where I'd have to hide it. Ouch! I just thought about it!
@Biff: TO JOHN PRINE! Great lyrical reference! You still gots it, Bifferoonie!
Ha ha. I tuned in from FaceCrack. I guess Times Square still has a sexual connotation in my subconscious because I read the teaser as "A six pack of thongs in Times Square". Although this wasn't what I expected, this is good too. Cheers to anyone who goes to the vigil, thanks to anyone who goes to the demonstrations. (As archaic as they maybe.)
@M.A.D. - I understand, Marty...but if you could manage it, just think of Bob Arihood looking down from Heaven and laughing himself into a hemorrhage.
@csp: Ha ha ha! Sorry to disappoint, I try for thongs another week! I hope I can get the fuck out of here to make the vigil and I'll hit Occupy Wall Street this week and get some photos and talk to people.
@Jaws: Hopefully it won't come to that, but if it does, I'll try!
i said before this is a great concept...interestin' tunes...surprise link a little "hard" to believe "coming" out of that cold water...ah then again.lookin' at the scenery...
re: Bob...it's very obvious this was a person that was well liked loved and respected...whata loss...
East Side, West Side, all around the town,
The tots sang "Ring-a-rosie," "London Bridge is falling Down";
Boys and Girls together, me and Mamie O'Rorke,
Tripped the light fantastic on the sidewalks of New York.

oh yeah...it appears MAD has never had a through cavity search...am sure they'd find a camera no matter how small..

@rr: It's fun to do, it's going to be a weekly thing. Great poem! And no, I've never had a thorough cavity search, and I hope to keep it that way!
@rr: Doesn't really matter how much Trident gum you chew to prevent that sort of search.
csp...had to clear my mouth...but damn they found it under my tongue...that camera was not as small as that salesman said...

Sorry for your loss Marty, and all Bobs friends!!! After reading that Bob went to Purdue it reminded me of a funny story. 26 years ago I attended the 50th annual Pest Control Conferance @ Purdue University. Several hundred gathered on the steps for a group photo. I was in the front row,my bosses son right behind me. Being 23 at the time it seem like a good idea to extend my middle finger out on my knee for the picture. Weeks later the bosses son is yellin, Ron get in the office!!! He tosses this photo out on the desk! What the Hell is this? Looks like our group photo from Purdue. No Shit smart-ass,I mean this, pointing out my pose! I say why don't you lightin up no ones goin to see that shit!!!! Couple weeks later he screamin for me to get my ass in the office! What now? He tosses 2 trade magazines on the desk and on the front cover, yep, the group photo! Okay so a few people might see it! Thought I'd share that. Take care all, Ron
@Ron: Great story! Thanks for sharing it!
