Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. I had a totally different post set up for today and was just finishing it up when I checked my email and read this: “I thought I would let you know since you had written when Fedora sold the restaurant. She passed away peacefully last night at the Village Nursing home. She had been failing for the last two months.”
Really sad news. Meeting Fedora and hanging out with her at her restaurant was a real highlight of my 365 bar crawl tour. I met a lot of people that year and she was one of the best. A classy lady with great stories of her wonderful restaurant in Greenwich Village. A true New Yorker. When I was leaving she gave me a postcard and told me it was her favorite picture. I keep it in front of my computer and it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I look at it. She was a beautiful woman with a gorgeous smile.
R.I.P. Fedora, you were a wonderful person. I’m honored you took the time to hang out with me.

Awww that is so very sad. I am sorry Marty. Beautiful words for her.
Oh, this is sad news. A real New Yorker, indeed, and loved by so many.
What a nice tribute to a nice lady. R.I.P., Fedora.
Sad news on such a nice day.
To Fedora.
Non amittuntur sed præmittuntur.
I wish I could have met her and been to the old Fedora ... something I've missed out on and won't get to ever do now :(
Anybody have a time machine ?
This was a very correct way to pay tribute to this nice lady. Short and very sweet. You were able to meet her and share stories that you in turn, shared with us. Very fitting video by Mary Hopkin, a welsh lady that was signed to Apple by McCartney, a perfect song for Fedora, RIP.
Sad but a great tribute - I love those pictures!
Awwww! Nice tribute, Marty. Fedora was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace.
Cheers Marty, TO Fedora...RIP

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
