Okay, tomorrow’s a holiday, so that can only mean one thing: Chillmaster Road Trip Party To Coney Island!
And we're off. We're all meeting at the Chillmaster's place and then taking the subway out to Coney Island for the day and evening. It should be a lot of fun.
Here we are at the Chillmaster window, but the Chill Chair is empty.
Here he is, walking around the block with Victoria. Let the party begin!
Inside the Chilmaster Lair, having a drink or two and chilling out till everyone arrives.
And pretty soon, everyone has shown up. The party included: Goggla, Ed, Shawn, Lindsay, Eric, Kate, Victoria and of course, The Chillmaster. Time to hit the road and take the subway to Coney Island. This is the end of the captions, as I have a lot of photos to post and they pretty much all tell their own story. Thanks to everyone for coming along. It was a great day and evening of chilling the fuck out in Coney Island!
Thanks to everyone for coming along and making the day and evening a ton of fun! Goodnight everybody and see you tomorrow after dark.

Walking down that first ramp from the subway I remember I used to do that with my parents in the 1950s. God, am I that old? Jesus! It's great to see Nathan's again, brings a smile to my face. Great you had a great time, hold on to the past it will go by so quickly just like a SNAP! And it will be gone...whoof!
Every picture tells a story,, for me to see the way everyone got together and went to Coney Island as a group was a beautiful thing. This is what living is all about,, being with friends and doing things. Glad you and the others took these pictures of a historical part of NY and we can enjoy it while it lasts, thanks.
Thanks for such a great time! I'm glad to have spent the last days of Coney with the Chillmaster crew!
@Mykola Mick Dementiuk: Time does fly and I agree about holding on to the past and good memories!
@Al: Glad you enjoyed the post. It was an epic day and lots of fun!
@Goggla: Glad you and Ed were able to come along, what a great day. Today I slept in and now I'm already dreading work tomorrow!
The cops look like they are about to burst into song.
Looks like a fantastic trip. Nice one.
Love your post! And I also like the black and white photo's they are so true and honest. You can see that you were enjoying it Marty! Thumbs up!
Thanks Marty - what a trip! Hope everyone got home safely. So many great things to see all around you - the beautiful tide of life flowing by on the boardwalk, those girls dancing together behind the food counter at Ruby's & that stocky guy in orange with the very cool dance moves. And let's not forget that former Hollywood starlet, the Headless Woman! Next time I might risk food poisoning & actually order the Nathan's frogs' legs.
@csp: Your comment left me in a Cop Rock state of mind!
@Fat Al: It was a great day and evening, hope you can make the next outing!
@Ruben Dutch: Glad you enjoyed it and I too really liked Lindsay and Kate's black and white photos, it was great of both of them to send them along.
@onemorefoldedusnset: Thanks a lot for coming along. It was a great day in a place that's not going to be there much longer. Thanks so much for the bonus photos!
Thanks for the tour. Gosh--you make friends whereever you go!!Nice. Hi everybody. Glad you had a blast.
WOW...gosh...what's a poor boy gonna say...'cept thanks to MAD et alia...thanks for all the great shots of a place that will soon no longer be...the chillmaster road trip one for the books...thanks again...
sorta off topic...a picture IS worth a thousand words and every picture tells a story ...but it's like watch a show w/o the canned laughter/applause...i miss the captions or comments, if you will, sorta like "sunny and chair" and the like...ah anyhoo "a nod is as good as a wink to blind horse".../end of alcohol fueled comment...
In a sense, each of us is an island. In another sense, however, we are all one. For though islands appear separate, and may even be situated at great distances from one another, they are only extrusions of the same planet, Earth.

Great piece of photojournalism, Marty. I want one of those electric beer mugs like the one being sported about by the Chillmaster in the suprise link.
Thanks for setting up a crazy-ass trip! It don't get any more nutty than that! Those photos are great. And Lindsay wow the B&W are spectacular!
Marty how did you get the NYPD to... smile?!?!
Just as quickly as he arrives, he fades into the night. The man from First Houses is a mystical creature of New York. The Motown Monster. The Thrillmaster, The Fillmaster... The Chillmaster.
Missed you by one day Marty! Mrs. Spike and I + a few friends always hit Coney on Labor Day for the last of the Rockabilly Festival at Cha Cha's (with numerous stop off's in Rubys as well) plus swimming in the trash strewn ocean and obligatory Wonder Wheel/Cyclone rides. I'm going to miss the hell out of it next year. Hope to go at least one more time before it all closes down.
Oh wow!! Now THAT is how to have a good time!
Going to Coney Island was a great idea, Marty!! I love that place and it was so great seeing the Chillmaster there!! Had such a great time! Glad you liked the photos, love the ones you and Kate took as well!! Such a great time, as usual! (thanks, Shawn!!)
nice headgear on the Chillmaster, he wears it well. Looks like a good time for all . Thanks for sharing your times in the City. I had mine, and though far away, you make me feel like I'm there too. Thanks Marty. Dannyboy
I ditto @Al. Loved all the pictures-what a great memory to now have.
@Melanie: It was a blast, hope you can make the next trip.
@rr: I hear you about the captions, but there wasn't enough time to write them with so many pictures. Great quote as always.
@Jaws: Goggla can steer you in the direction to find one of those mugs.
@Shawn: I slipped some acid into their coffee and it was smile city! Thanks for coming along on the adventure!
@Lindsay: It was a great day and I'm glad you joined the adventure. And thanks so much for your photos, great shots as always!
@dannyboy: Glad you enjoyed the outing! It was a great day!
@Britta: A great memory indeed!
@Meleah: A good time was had by all!
Hey, my husband and I are in your first photo of Ruby's - me with the curly hair and pink sleeveless shirt, husband with green shirt and beige baseball hat. I can't believe we were there at the same time and I didn't notice you guys. I would've recognized you and the Chillmaster from your posts, but I wasn't expecting any celebrities that day. Anyway, it was a great Coney day, and there are still many more before Ruby's shuts down for good the end of October.
@Katrink: Sorry you didn't see us, you could've hung out all day with us! Let's try and meet before Ruby's closes, I'll send you an email when and if it ever calms down here at work.
Marty - that would be great. I've got to show your blog to my husband - he'll love it.
@Katrink: I'll try and email you today!
